Following the death of a local teenager in 2013 the town rallied together to ensure mental health was no longer a taboo subject.
Doing Life Together is an annual event organised by a local committee and supported by the Rotary Club of George Town. Rotarian Tam McLean is the driving force behind Doing Life Together and her organising committee are tireless in ensuring that people talk about mental health issues and know where to seek help.
In November each year a family day is held at Low Head with agencies providing information and fun for the whole family. A fund raising cocktail party has also raised funds for ongoing mental health support.
